I wanted to share my story with some of you who are looking at this site and thinking - no WAY am I going to be signing up for a 5K! Just a couple of years ago, I was in your shoes and they definitely weren't running shoes. I was extremely overweight, tired, no energy and I just felt unhappy with where I was with my health. It took realizing I couldn't quite keep up with my two young children with the fun activities they wanted to do before I decided it was really time to do something different. A little bit at a time, I changed my habits. Reduced a few things here and there, got a little more active at every opportunity I could. A few of us signed up for a free application on our iPhone called the Couch-to-5K, which helped us to build up from walking to jogging over a span of several weeks. We saw that ESP in Port Angeles was hosting their first ever Mud Run and we had a few months to train for it - so we went for it! We built up a team of some friends and we encouraged each other to stick with our plan, with the end goal being able to finish the ESP Run-A-Muck together, as the Super Mucks! We managed to not only finish the race but we had developed new lifestyles, habits and friendships. And we wanted more running, more mud! So, friends. That is how the S'Klallam Warrior Mud Run was born. A team of newbie runners, who went from Couch-to-5K-ers in just a few months! I promise, if I can do it - anybody can do it! Now my kids have a hard time keeping up with me, instead of the other way around. You have an entire WARRIOR TEAM here to help you, every step of the way. Please join us on this Journey to make the S'Klallam Warrior Mud Run a success and bring health and wellness to as many people in the community as possible. I look forward to getting muddy with you.
